JUGURTHA
The freedom-fighter.
Many people nowadays know the figure of Hannibal , but do, especially the Tunisians
and Algerians, they know their first freedom-fighter in North-Africa against
the Romans? I doubt it. To our luck we have the information of a classic Roman
writer Sallustius. He administrated the Roman province of Africa
in the 1st century BC, but also robbed it completely. He was a crook
in daily live, but when he got older, he started writing and in that occupation
he thought he must tell the truth and there it is: his book BELLUM IUGURTHINUM.
If you have the patience to read it, I will give you in the coming time his
remarkable story, which belongs also to the history of the Phoenicians, because
some of his supporters and his opponents have a Phoenician name!
